Just came back from a short trip to Wichita, KS.
DIY Multi Glitter Shoes.
I’ve been searching high and low for multi glitter shoes, but being a size 34 makes everything difficult. I purchased these baby pink pumps on jgshoe.com because they cater to tiny feet. The quality is just about the same as Nine West or Steve Madden. I wasn’t too keen on the color so I decided to play with glitter and glue.
Supplies:
Assorted glitter (purchased from Michaels at 50% off!)
Mod podge
1 inch paint brush
Shellac sealant (not pictured but purchased at Home Depot)
(I did not use the tacky spray pictured)
I didn’t want glitter to get in or around the shoe, so I prepped it by covering the insole and outsole with saran wrap and masking tape (blue tape might be better, but I only had masking tape around).
1. Mix the glitter to the shade of your preference.
2. Using the paint brush, brush on a section of mod podge (I did the heel last so that I could grip it while working).
3. Pour glitter on with a spoon over the plate and shake off the excess.
4. Repeat steps 2-3 until the entire shoe is complete.
I let it dry for 20-30 minutes and then added a second coat of mod podge/glitter. After 20-30 minutes of letting the second coat dry, I sprayed the shoes with sealant outdoors.
I loveee the end result! Can’t wait to wear them out!
Celebrating the birth of a beautiful baby boy with a dressed up big round balloon.
Heart balloons are so sweet and simple. I used this one to add a not-so-little something to a bridal shower gift.
The final series in Bubba’s 6th Birthday Bash: dessert.
I special ordered a plain white buttercream w/chocolate filling cake and chocolate and vanilla cupcakes w/sprinkles at our local Publix. Publix + cakes = yum. I loved the little flags Chenin used for Scout’s Rainbow Party, so I made some of my own. I designed them through Word using a variety of fonts and the same color scheme from the labels. I printed them on cardstock, cut them into flag shapes, and stuck them together and on skewer sticks using mounting squares.
Chenin also had a beautiful display of fruit that I wanted to emulate using pineapple, melon, raspberry, and seedless grapes.
I displayed the desserts using a Martha Stewart for Macy’s medium cake stand, cb2 bento plates, and with the party favors on each side. I made little signs for the fruit and cupcakes using Word, cardstock, and tape.
For a pop of color, I used three big round balloons from shophaha (sky blue and sea green) to be the back drop of the dessert table.
On the day of his actual birthday, I volunteered in his classroom and brought some cupcakes and birthday invitations for his classmates. Again, I used Brooke’s candygram idea.
I really wanted to use kraft necklace boxes, but all I could find locally were white ones. I decided to make my own boxes using kraft paper. I designed all the labels in Word in the same fashion as the birthday party favors. Then, I filled them up with starbursts and jolly ranchers.
A plus: I had everything at home already =). I always have kraft paper and labels stocked in my office. I used leftover piñata candy stock.
For the birthday decorations, I put up a streamer canopy, scattered air-filled balloons around the room, and made a number 6 pinata using Jordan’s pinata tutorial. All for under $30 by using things I already had around the house (candy for the pinata was the bulk of that cost)!
For Bubba’s birthday party favors, I wanted to give something that was yummy or useful. I was able to do both, using ideas from Brooke’s candygram and birthday card.
I designed the number cards with Microsoft Word and printed them out onto cardstock (four cards per sheet).
I cut each sheet into fours and scored the top of each card (except for “one”).
I glued the scored end to the bottom of the previous card and stuck Japanese washi tape over it.
Then it was time to pick and choose candy. I used airheads, hershey’s, starburst, jolly ranchers, and necco dots.
I wanted to include something that wasn’t a tchotchke, so I used $5 gift cards to Target for the number five.
I housed the finished product in yellow treat boxes from shophaha. Using the same process as the cards, I designed the labels with Microsoft Word and printed them out on 8.5x11 label sheets (four labels per sheet).
The love of my life recently celebrated his 6th birthday! What a milestone! Kindergarten + our very own house = PARTY!
I’ll be posting details over the next few days. His party was completely inspired by oh happy day, inchmark, and fudge banana swirl. I was actually in an all-things-pretty slump late last year. I was burnt out. And my hobby didn’t seem too fun anymore, so I went on a little hiatus. Then I came across Scout’s Rainbow Party a few weeks ago. It made me so happy just looking at the pictures and like magic, I had Bubba’s party planned in my head. I already had projects that I wanted to try out from oh happy day and inchmark, so everything came together just like that!
This mom would like to thank these three amazing moms, Jordan, Brooke, and Chenin, for the neverending inspiration.
